Refacing old cabinets – is it a good idea?

 In Ask-a-Pro, Blog, Kitchen renovations

Lots of homeowners seem to ask this question. You would think that maybe it would be a cheap option and fairly easy to do, however going this route can often be plagued with issues. At Final Draft Cabinetry we do still reface cabinets on occasion but it’s not always the best long term solution for updating a space. Most of the expense of kitchen cabinetry updating is the installation of cabinet doors, the boxes are generally only about 15% of the cost. They are the least expensive part. The old existing boxes are often not structurally sound or square and level, which means the new doors may never line up properly therefore leaving a homeowner unhappy. New is actually a more economical solution these days. Final Draft Cabinetry can meet everyone’s budget based on material choices.
